Privacy Policy

The Overlap (“we”, “us”) is a mobile app for airline crew. You mark your own month in the app — your trips and your days off — and it shows you the layovers and days off you share with friends. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to write it the way we’d want to read it: plainly.
The short version
- The month you mark is used to find your trips and days off. Friends only ever see the overlaps — shared cities and dates — never your full schedule.
- We don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads.
- Delete your account any time; your roster data and overlaps are deleted with it.
What we collect
- Account details. Your name (or the name you choose), email address, and home base airport.
- Schedule data. What you enter in the app: the days you mark off, and your trips — their dates, the airport code, what the days are (a trip, standby, a day off), and any note you add yourself. You type it in; we don’t read rosters from photos, files, or your airline’s systems.
- Friend connections. Who you’ve connected with in the app, including invites you send or accept.
- Commitments. Your “I’m in” responses on overlaps, so friends can see who’s going.
- Basic diagnostics. Crash reports and performance signals that help us keep the app working.
How your month gets in
You enter it yourself: tap the days you’re off, drag across a run of them, add each trip with its layovers. Nothing is taken from your camera roll, your files, or your airline’s systems, and no document of yours is sent to an AI service. What we hold is what you typed, and it is used to serve you — your own calendar, and the overlaps you share with friends you have accepted. It is never published, sold, or used to build advertising profiles.
What friends can see
Only overlaps: the city, dates, and whether it’s a layover or a day off for you — and only with people you have accepted as friends. The rest of your month — the cities and dates that line up with nobody, and any note you added — stays private to your account.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored with our hosting providers (currently Supabase infrastructure) with access controls that restrict every record to its owner and their accepted friends. Data is encrypted in transit.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell or rent your personal data.
- We don’t show your roster to anyone — including friends.
- We don’t use your data for third-party advertising.
Your choices
- Delete your account. Everything tied to it — roster data, overlaps, connections — is deleted.
- Edit or clear what you entered. Change a trip, unmark a day, or clear a month at any time; the overlaps that came from it update with it.
- Unfriend. Removing a connection removes your shared overlaps from each other’s feeds.
